Dependant visas enable immediate family members of UK visa holders to join them in the UK, encompassing various visa types such as work, study, business, and ancestry visas. These visas, including the PBS Dependant and Dependant visas, serve the same purpose: allowing family members to join the main visa holder in the UK.

New Rules in 2024

Starting January 2024, changes to UK dependant visa rules impact international students, restricting the ability to bring dependants unless engaged in PhD studies or postgraduate research. Moreover, from March 11, 2024, care workers and senior care workers will no longer be eligible to bring dependants.

Eligibility and Application

Dependant visas are available for partners/spouses and children of eligible UK visa holders. Partners must be married, in a civil partnership, or cohabiting for 2+ years. Child dependants must be under 18 or dependent on the main visa holder

Financial Requirements

Financial criteria vary based on the main visa type. For instance, a Skilled Worker Dependant visa requires £285 for a partner and £315 for the first child, with additional sums for subsequent children.

Document Checklist

Applicants must furnish several documents, including proof of identity, relationship to the main visa holder, and financial stability. Essential documentation includes the main applicant’s Global Web Form (GWF) or Unique Application Number (UAN), proof of relationship, and financial records.
